Settling In Sessions

Settling In Sessions

We completely understand that ’letting go’ can be a tough time.

We place great importance on the settling in process for you and your child.

At Manor House Nursery our aim is to work together to start to build a strong relationship. We want to ensure you feel confident leaving your child in our care and your child feels safe, secure and happy with their key person within the environment.

We  provide a minimum of three, 1 hour settling sessions. We ask you to stay with your child for the first hour, with you leaving for a short period of time (if you are ready) on the 2nd. By the third settle you may be able to leave for the full hour.

Each child is unique, and we recognise that some babies and children (and even mums and dads too!) will require a longer period of settling in than others. We understand the importance of attachment to your child’s all round development, therefore we will consult with you if there are any causes for concern, even after your child has settled. On occasion, we may recommend your child go back to some settling in sessions, especially after a significant event at home.

If you feel your child (or you) may need additiontional support settling in, please tell us. There is lots we can do to help.

Building a positive, secure attachment to their key person allows children to be themselves and feel confident.

During your child’s first settling in session, you and your child will be introduced to their key person. You will be encouraged to discuss your child’s development, share their interests, their routine at home and any other information that helps the key person gain a good understanding of your child’s individual needs and provide a secure, positive relationship. The key person will use this information to ensure we provide your child’s favourite activities and support their development.

The key person will be your main point of contact. They will keep updated of your child’s progress and share any concerns. The key person will also ensure you know all about your child’s day, what they enjoyed doing, what they had to eat and how they have been. We record some of this information on the Famly app but will make sure you see your child’s key person regularly. You are encouraged to call us if you have any concerns throughout the day or please message us on the app.

Our nursery is filled with love, fun, laughter and learning. Children thrive at Manor House!
